Hair loss after surgerySurgery under general anesthesia sometimes lead to diffuse hair loss, which can also be massive. The reason for this lies in the excellent repair mechanisms of the human organism. After surgery many nutrients are needed for the "repair" of vital organs and other healing processes. The body is in such a case simply priorities: First,it is supplied, what man needs for over-and survival.Hairs are not.The hair follicles are then fed only when the more important areas of the body is well again. So a person needs for recovery after surgery excessively many vital substances, which is often at the expense of the hair roots. This becomes a time lag often noticeable only two to three months after an intervention in the form of hair loss.
Anesthesia for hair
An operation has another reason for hair loss. The hair follicles are just like all of the body? Soporific other cells?Exposed to the anesthetic effect and thus get out of sync.In addition,a drop in blood pressure in case of accidents or major surgery of the head of hair increase. The body reacts in such times of crisis,by reducing the blood supply less important areas of the body such as skin or hair follicles. This also causes the hair to the blood stream not get enough nutrients. The reduced blood flow can also focus on a particular part of the head: the area rests motionless for hours possibly on the operating table. This pressure can slow the blood flow and additionally stress the hair follicles!

Proscar here, about 7 months2004-02-17 19:05:22 by and-counting
Cant really tell if its doing anything. My hair has been fine and thin for a long time but I basically have mostly good coverage, a little more thin in the back and receding hairline.
From what I gather, Propecia is not/Proscar is not going to make my hair thicker or grow, it's just going to (hopefully prevent/slow down future thinning and loss).
I've been obsessing over trying Avodart instead because its thought to be so much more powerful, and some find their hair acutally gorws and gets thicker, but its still so new in the hairloss area and I'm not quite ready to make the leap to something with more potential sideeffcts (so far I have none with Prsocar)
